Week 1 Who is God ? Day 2

Day 2-ReadLuke 15:11-32 According to this passage who or what is God? Do you know God in this way? If so spend some time in prayer thanking God for who He is. If you do not know God like this, ask Him to reveal this part of His character you.

  1. God is the father watching and waiting for his prodigal son
i kno God this way, slightly
i often feel i am slipping away lost in this world and yet there he is waiting with open arms

  2. This reminds me of a verse in Hebrews 5. It says, "You are my son, today i am your father." however i don't know what it means but everday i see something that relates to it. i feel that God is trying to show me something through it. ANYWAY. To me God is everything. He is the almighty creator, the beginning and the end. He is my bestfriend, but we get closer every day. When i call on him, and need him, he responds without hesitation. God is bigger than anyone can wrap thier minds around. Although God and I are close and i love him, i learn something new every single day. So i'm hesitating to say i know God this way because there is vast amounts of things God is yet to show us.

  3. I definitely know this side of God well, i think to the point where i may be guilty of taking advantage of it, God is so forgiving. The cool thing was that it wasnt just forgiveness it was forgiveness with restoration, the father restored the son to the state that he was created to be in and thats exactly wut God does for us when we turn to him and say "please take me back" he forgives and restores he doesnt take us down a notch and say "well your not as good to me anymore" i think that is so cool, but i also have to remember how just God is and that he sent Jesus to pay that price so that i could enjoy the restoration and forgiveness i cant just keep saying "ahhh God will forgive me" i need to grab hold of my restored self and respect God with my life. I also think its really cool how in all of this the father never forgets his other son and loves him just the same God doesn't show favoritism either

  4. Well i think that God in this is like the Father that will always be here for me, so long we call out for him hes there. and i know God this way all the time since i struggle with calling out when things are good but every time i do call to him he's always right there for me with his open arms waiting for me to give it to him and just let go all good and bad things in my life!!!

  5. God is just as the father in that passage. When i screw up, when i step away from God, when i sin, it pains me to see what i am doing to God. I am the reason the Jesus died. He died for me and he died because of me. The son that left must have seen known the pain that his father would feel in his leaving but he left anyway. I think we all need to take a greater evaluation of what we do before we do them. But God is so great and so forgiving. God loves me no matter where i go or what i do and no matter how i screw up. He shows his everlasting love and his light and his hope everyday to me, and all of us, we just have to be aware and look for his beauty. But God is awesome and he will welcome us back to him every time. The extent of his love for us is never ending and just as the son was said to die and be born again, so are we whenever we ask forgiveness of the Lord. This is not a free pass, but it an experience to learn from. and to hopefully never repeat. GOd is soo good and he has given us life, so we should praise him with our lives to their fullest extent. Praise the Lord!! Amen....God is soo good to us.

  6. Nice job guys...we're off to a great start. Some really good thoughts on the aspect of God's character that is "fatherly."

Matt-I think you are right about not ever getting our brains completely around God's character. But I think he does reveal himself to us a little bit more each day as we make strides toward him.

Ian-I think you hit the nail on the head. We need to live like we are forgiven - not live like we need forgiveness. There is a huge difference.

Keep up the good work. If you see or talk to any of the slackers who are now a day behind gently remind them they need to hop on the site and comment.

  7. i definitly think that God is the father in this passage, like everyone else had said. i mean, i think sometimes i had the attitude of the son that stayed with the father, being some-what selfing and saying "omg that's not fair!". but i have learned to be patient and that not everything has to be fair in life.

  8. Good point em. The older brother often gets overlooked in this story because his character does not undergo some huge change. But his faithfulness and I think as Ian pointed out the Father's love for the older brother is just as important
