Week 4 Why Serve ? Day 18
Depending on who you talk to, the word religion can be anything from a profanity to an annoyance, but rarely is it viewed in a positive light. How do you think God views religion? Why do you think this is so? Read James 1:27 Why do you think God places such a high priority on service to the lonely and helpless? For those of us who claim Christianity as our religion, how might serving others change how religion, specifically Christianity is perceived?

God views religion as a choice
ReplyDeleteand not a hard choice
as easy as picking a cereal to eat
and unless ur me and take a half hour to do so its a simpe process
its the faith and believing in that religion where the actual work and experince comes in
God puts a huge prority
oh helping those less fortunate becuase
those are the ones who have the least acess to his words usualy
think about it a rich man can just hop into his shiny car and drive to a church
its the needy that require help
alos they are the most supceptible into falling into a bad life style
so they require a guide to get them back on thier feet
and no better guide than Jesus
if we help the needy
we go beyond calling ourselves christians
we become christians
cuz calling urself sumthen dosnt mean jack
if u dont act upon ur beliefs
if ppl did what they said they would do
so many things would be done and there wouldnt be so much hurt in thtis wolrd
i admit ive contributed to the pain by not doing
they say actions speak louder than words
but i say its REactions that spreak louder than words
for its the changes in this world that cause progress in our lives both pysically and spiritually
seeing the face of someone who was down and alomst out shine with the light of God is the CLOSEST WE CAN GET TO SEEING THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN OF EATH
"We go beyond calling ourselves Christians,
ReplyDeletewe become christians." Well put Brian, there are too many of us you simply call ourselves christians. Time for more doing and less talking.
I think your last sentence really hits the nail on the head. Our job as Christ followers is to bring heaven to earth.
Well done today young Padawan.
Amen to that Brian Amen! and i think thats a lot of what happened in the past and happens today. Religion has ruined following Christ. Ruined may be a little harsh but it has definitely hurt it. People just see religion as barriers and that people from another religion are different from themselves. Religion brings up walls that keep humans from connecting with one another. I mean christians have done some pretty horrible things in the past (crusades) and have given religion a bad name. and even within the church, there are so many denominations that it makes my head hurt. people find more and more ways to separate themselves from on another. Even though religions may have a different way to look at God, and different customs, most of them point towards the same thing: living a good and decent life so as to join God or to recieve a greater pleasure once they leave this earth. So we all arent as different and separate as we think. Especially today people are turned off by religion because of how we arent accepting of everyone. Religion has hurt the growth of Christ's kingdom.
ReplyDeleteBut God asks us to go out from behind our boundry and to help the weak and the downtrodden. "Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world." They dont get to experience God, they know no God, or at least they know no God of ours, they only know the horrible man hating God that has put them in their situation. We should be the ones to show them that that is not the real God. and i absolutely agree with brian's last statement. 100%! Helping others ameliorates the bad reputation that the religion of Christianity. It gives the religion a good name and can help grow Gods kingdom.
i like ur words boi
